#30SecondBible: 2 Peter
Four Basic Takeaways
There’s four basic takeaways in this letter: First, we are reminded that we have already been provided with everything needed to partake in the divine nature, that is, to be in godliness. Second, we’re encouraged to actually show in our lives that we are in that godliness. Do good things Third, we’re warned not to listen to those who offer fast answers. Those folks are false prophets. Fourth, we’re told to be grateful for God’s patience. We’ve been given time to practice being good.
- What does it mean for you to "partake in the divine nature?"
- Who in our world today would you consider to be a false prophet? Why?
What Is Right
We are called to partake in the divine nature, to be caught up in that holy power and experience of freedom. And to exercise that freedom in the vision of what is to come. And yes, it will be tricky at times and there will be all kinds of voices clamoring with promises that they know what we need for safety and security. But under it all God’s sufficiency remains. We have been given what we need to do what is right.
- When was a time you were caught up in the power up in the power and experience of freedom?
- What voices do you hear clamoring with promises that they know what you need for safety and security?
